How we describe a stone
Tsavorite is judged on the same four properties as any coloured gem, with one addition that matters more here than anywhere else: it is never treated, and we say so on every listing.
A pure, saturated green is the top of the market. Stones that lean yellowish, or that go too dark and lose life, are worth considerably less and are not listed.
Tsavorite is a type II stone: some inclusions are normal and expected. We still list only stones that are clean to the eye, and anything visible is stated and photographed.
The rough is small and expensive, so there is constant pressure to cut heavy. We prefer proportions that keep the stone bright over proportions that keep the weight.
Weight with exact millimetre dimensions. Price per carat steps up sharply above one carat, and again above two and three, because the rough rarely gives them.
None. No heat, no oil, no resin, no filler of any kind — unlike emerald, where oiling is the norm. This is checkable, and certification from an independent laboratory is available on request.
